Fast Fashion: European Union Reveals Fast Fashion Crackdown

快时尚：欧盟表示将严惩快消服装产业

Clothes, furniture and smartphones sold in Europe must be longer-lasting and easier to repair under new rules proposed by the European Union. The strategy targets products at every stage of use, including design, repair and recycling.

欧盟提议出台新规定，要求在欧洲销售的服装、家具及智能手机等产品必须要更耐久、更易于维修。这一规定针对的，是产品使用过程中的每一个阶段，包括设计、维修和回收等。

The initiative aims to boost the market for sustainably made textiles. It also says it will crack down on companies misleading consumers with false environmental claims, or greenwashing.

该倡议旨在促进可持续纺织品市场的发展。该倡议也表示，将严厉打击那些使用虚假环保声明或“漂绿”等手段来误导消费者的公司。

Manufacturers will have to ensure their clothes are eco-friendly and hard-wearing. And consumers will be given more information on how to reuse, repair and recycle their clothes.

The Environmental Coalition on Standards, said the rules were designed to bring in longer-lasting products that could be used multiple times rather than worn a few times then thrown away. The Commission seeks to put a halt on fast fashion by introducing rules on textiles to be used in the European market.
