Most of the time when we don't live our lives well, we fall into these four traps.

Heard this fable:

A man went to the desert to hunt for treasure, but before the treasure was found, the water ran out, and he had to lie in the desert, waiting for death. At this time, the Buddha appeared and gave him a lot of water, enough to get out of the desert.

But halfway there, he came across treasure. So he greedily filled all his pockets with the treasure. He soon became thirsty and drank all the water in an instant.

In order to get out of the desert, he began to throw away treasures one by one. In the end, he lost all his treasures, but still died of thirst on the road.

Life should be a process of constant subtraction. Keep choosing, giving up, choosing and giving up until what is most important is left.

The more you want, the easier it is to get nothing. People who know how to choose, get more.

When you get rid of the unimportant things, you can restore your heart to a clean place and focus on the most important things.

02

In the streets of Japan, there was an experiment:

Give a homeless man 1 million yen at random, which means he can spend whatever he wants in one day. The condition is: 24 hours later, the rest of the money back.

First, he went to the hotel to take a shower, bought T-shirts, towels, umbrellas, paper bags at the convenience store... Then, he went into a large convenience shopping discount store in Japan and bought T-shirts and towels again.

When the follower thinks he's going to splurge next. Suddenly the uncle said, "That's all."

Finally, of the 1 million yuan given to him, he only spent less than 30,000 yuan to buy food, clothes and daily necessities.

The more a person lacks something, the more he pays attention to something, and then falls into "scarcity mode", unable to see more important things.

American economist Nathan Mullenathan says:

“长期处于稀缺状态的穷人,会被稀缺心态消耗大量带宽;

"The poor who are in a state of scarcity for a long time will consume a lot of bandwidth due to the scarcity mentality;

"Their judgment and cognitive skills are impaired by being so focused on immediate issues that they don't have the bandwidth to think about investment and long-term growth."

Those who can succeed are often not the most powerful, but those who persist long enough. They can lengthen the time line of planning and think about their own life from the perspective of the next five or ten years.

03

Pain cannot be avoided, but suffering can be chosen.

There is a dog in a cage. It stretched out its claws, trying to escape captivity. The moment it hit the railing, the siren on the cage sounded, and someone gave it an electric shock.

The dog withdrew its paws, but eager to be free, still tried to get out of the fence. But every time it touched the railing, it would usher in the pain of electric shock in the sound of the siren. This cycle, over and over again.

The last time the sirens went off, people left the cage doors open before the shocks. But the dog did not flee, and before the shock appeared, it fell to the ground, trembling and moaning. The cage door is always open, but it can't get out again.

This classic experiment verifies what is "learned helplessness": the negative behavior of giving up efforts due to frequent failures or punishments in the past.

When it comes to life, it's also known as a mental cancer of failure.

Trapped in the pain of the past, giving up action and change, fearing tomorrow, regretting yesterday, and not living well today.

In fact, real pain does not last very long. Any emotion that has been created, if you don't hold on to it, it will go away.

Pain cannot be avoided, but suffering can be chosen. Accept the pain, put it into action, make changes, and you can climb the hills of life.

04

Pan Yue, a famous writer in the Western Jin Dynasty, was very talented when he was young. Pan Yue first served as a powerful official and then served as a Beijing official, but he was always frustrated by his talent.

After Pan Yue participated in the "Twenty-Four Friends" literati group led by Jia Mi, he ushered in a turning point in his career. This literati group gathered the powerful and powerful at that time, and being able to become a member here can be said to gain both fame and fortune.

Pan Yue's mother once advised him not to cling to power, but although he promised verbally, his heart did not change. After the rebellion of the Eight Kings, Sima Lun succeeded in seizing power and killed Pan Yue.

Pan Yue was involved in a power struggle that cost him his own life because of his "impetuous temperament and tendency to profit".

A man of good character is indifferent to fame, and a man who covet fame will be burdened by it, even by it.

Don't be too greedy for fame. It will only make you forget where you started and become a snob.

Everything does not fight not rob, relaxation degree, to harvest a good reputation.
