1) Gen Z has a new 'vintage' technology to obsess over.

Actress Dove Cameron said in a November interview that she had switched to a flip phone. Spending too much time on her phone and looking at social media "is really bad for me," she said.

As smartphones and social media became more ubiquitous around 2012, so did the rate of depression among teens, psychologists say. Between 2004 and 2019 the rate of teen depression nearly doubled.

Today, these smaller, lightweight devices -- some available for as little as $20 at big box retailers like Walmart and Amazon -- are showing up in TikTok videos of young people unboxing them...

We attribute this shift to many smartphone users beginning to recognize they are spending too much time glued to their devices and having a strong desire to disconnect and 'be fully present' to improve their quality of social connections.

2) Sitting all day is terrible for your health – now, a new study finds a relatively easy way to counteract it.

To reduce the harmful health effects of sitting, take a five-minute light walk every half-hour. That’s the key finding of a new study that my colleagues and I published in the journal Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise.

But shorter and less frequent walks improved blood pressure too. Even just a one-minute light walk every hour reduced blood pressure by five points.

In addition to physical health benefits, there were also mental health benefits to the walking breaks.

We found that compared with sitting all day, a five-minute light walk every half-hour reduced feelings of fatigue, put participants in a better mood and helped them feel more energized.

We also found that even walks just once every hour were enough to boost mood and reduce feelings of fatigue.

3) Marie Osmond says her kids won't get an inheritance: All it does is 'breed laziness and entitlement'.

The former country singer, 63, opened up about her plans to donate her wealth to charity instead of leaving it to her seven kids.

Honestly, why would you enable your child to not try to be something? I don’t know anybody who becomes anything if they’re just handed money.

To me, the greatest gift you can give your child is a passion to search out who they are inside and to work.

The singer firmly believes that leaving wealth can discourage the younger generation from working hard.

That’s one of my rules with my kids. If you start it, you finish it, you don’t ever have to do it again, but you gotta finish.
